Abstract

The present study aims to explain the process of POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT in the Islamic Republic and the role of SOCIAL CLASSES in this process. This article tries to answer the question that which political class has played a major role in the POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT process among the SOCIAL CLASSES in Iran? And why this new middle class among SOCIAL CLASSES can be op e rational with the POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT process? These are the most important research questions. In response to questions raised above, the hypothesis which is constructed is that it seems that THE NEW MIDDLE CLASS, among SOCIAL CLASSES in Iran, has the most important role in the process of POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT in Islamic Republic of Iran with an emphasis on factors such as rights and modern institutions, law and parliamentary ELECTIONS, freedom of the press and etc. The theoretical frame work for class analysis is based on the opinions of modernization scholars. In the present study a descriptive approach is utilized and SOCIAL CLASSES is regarded as the independent variable and the process of POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT as the dependent variable. The results show that new middle class uses the lower class (class three) affection as a pressure factor, because of its special status and uses the higher class (class one) intellect as a compromise factor and manages the growing social momentum. That's why the process of POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT, distribution and more accurate political authority and institutionalization of DEMOCRACY, plays a major role.
