Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the modern visual media’s role and effect on life style. In order to do so, a theoretical framework of theorists such as Mitchell, Simmel, Bourdieu and others is used. The research method is survey and a researcher-made questionnaire is used for gathering information. The statistical population is all students of Islamic Azad University, Tehran Science and Research branch in engineering, basic sciences and humanities colleges which are a total number of 9729 students in 2013. A sample of 370 students is produced by Cochran’s formula. The research findings show that utilizing the modern visual media leads to the emergence of a particular LIFESTYLE in which people have different worldviews. These differences will lead people to act variously different in any situation i.e. people will obey different patterns in LEISURE TIME spending, MARRIAGE STYLE, RELIGIOUSNESS and fashionableness.
