Abstract

Bourdieu is a multidimensional theorist and methodologist whose goal is to transcend the traditional dualities of sociology - subjectivism versus objectivism, symbolism versus materialism, structure versus action. and micro versus macro analysis. This article analyzes Bourdieus views as well as his sources. The article first discusses Bourdieus structuralist approach and then some of his main concepts such as HABITUS, LES CHAMPS, and symbolic capital.
