Abstract

Recent advances in telecommunications and information technologies made oeganizations realize that business resources not only include financial capital and equipment, but also cover ideas, knowledge and information. Transportation systems are crucial to a viable economy and to cultural and political continuity. Modern technologies in information and telecommunication have in fact revolutionized transportation systwms. This is a case study of the impact of modern INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY. Including INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS (ITS) such as GIS and GPS, on Iranian road transportation system. It examines the impact of INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY on managerial, technical and financial aspects of Iranian road transportation system by surveying the opinion of INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY experts and managers of the IRANIAN TRANSPORTATION AND TERMINAL ORGANIZATION.
