Abstract

 Emotional intelligence is a comprehensive term which encompasses a wide range of individual skills and characteristics that goes beyond a particular domain of the previous sciences such as intelligence quotient and technical or vocational skills and assesses individual capability toward recognition and controlling of emotions in the individual and others. Meanwhile, one of the most important motivational issues which has largely imposed itself on the studies of industrial and organizational psychology is the organizational commitment. Presence of the forces that are committed to the organization would lead to the remarkable increase in the performance of the organization, the spiritual joy of the personnel and better materialization of the lofty goals of the organization as well as achievement of the individual objectives.The present research examines and analyzes the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Organizational Commitment in branches of Sepah Bank in Tehran. The statistical populater of the research includes a total of 268 managers of all branches of Bank Sepah in Tehran, from whom 114 managers were selected. Data related to emotional intelligence were collected by means of “Sharing” questionnaire and those related to organizational commitment were collected by means of “Allen and Mayer” questionnaire. Results of Data analysis using correlation coefficient Pearson reveals that there is a meaningful relation between emotional intelligence and organizational commitment of managers. There is also a meaningful relation between all components of the emotional intelligence and organizational commitment. Hence all hypotheses of this research were confirmed. Also, the multivariable regression analysis reveals that from among the components of emotional intelligence, sympathy has the highest implication in organizational commitment.
