Abstract

Introduction: Following an appropriate Lifestyle by students can motivate academic achievements, maintain and improve health status, and prevent diseases. The current study aimed at investigating the relationship between Lifestyle and Achievement Motivation from the viewpoint of students. Methods: In the current descriptive correlational study, 142 students of Ferdows Paramedical School were randomly selected in 2016. To collect data, three questionnaires as demographic characteristics, the Walker Lifestyle, and the Hermann tenses, moods, and aspects (TMA) were used. Data were analyzed with SPSS version 19 using descriptive statistics (abundance, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (independent t tests, one-way analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation coefficient). Results: Mean scores of Lifestyle and Achievement Motivation respectively were 135. 2 ± 18. 3 and 81. 6 ± 7. 2 both of which were at moderate level. There was a positive and significant correlation between Lifestyle and Achievement Motivation (r = 0. 22, P < 0. 05). There was a significant difference in mean score of Lifestyle among different educational groups (P = 0. 01(. Conclusions: The results indicated a positive and significant relationship between Lifestyle and the Achievement Motivation. Since the mean scores of Lifestyle and the Achievement Motivation were at moderate level, broader plans should be imposed to promote Lifestyle and strengthen its influencing factors.
