Abstract

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES are considered as one of the major threats to humanity in the twenty-first century. Most of the ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES are the consequences of human behavior. This behavior, however, does not occur in a vacuum, and some underlying factors including background an identity are among its major determinants Thus, in investigations of ENVIRONMENTAL BEHAVIORs, considerations of LIFE STYLE and the way people deal with their environment are highly important. The main objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between LIFE STYLE and ENVIRONMENTAL BEHAVIOR in RASHT. The method used in this study was a survey research. The participants of the study were RASHT inhabitants who were over 16 years old, selected through random cluster sampling. The findings suggest that there is no significant relationship between LIFE STYLE and ENVIRONMENTAL BEHAVIOR. It seems that ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES in RASHT are not among public concerns and are limited to elites of the society.
