Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different levels of Biomin Imbo synbiotic on the GROWTH performance, FEED efficiency, BODY COMPOSITION and some IMMUNO-HEMATOLOGICAL factors of gray mullet (Mugil cephalus L.) juveniles. Grey mullet fingerlings with the initial average weight of 6.46±1.28 g were randomly distributed into 12 aquaria and fed with diets containing different levels of synbiotic including 0 (control), 0.5, 1.5 and 3.0 percent of synbiotic for 45 days. At the end of experiment some indicators related to GROWTH, nutrition, BODY COMPOSITION as well as the IMMUNO-HEMATOLOGICAL parameters of juveniles was measured. According to the results, addition of synbiotic to the basal diet increased the GROWTH Rate, Specific GROWTH Rate (SGR%), FEED Conversion Efficiency (FCE%) and decreased FEED Conversion Ratio (FCR) (P<0.05). Synbiotic had a significant effect on enhancing the crude protein, protein efficiency ratio, protein productive value and lipid efficiency ratio, and also reduced the crude lipid and lipid Productive value (P<0.05).This synbiotic also caused a significant increase in the percentage of lymphocytes, and conversely significantly decreased the percentage of monocytes and neutrophils (p<0.05).The results of this study showed that all treatments supplemented with SYNBIOTIC BIOMIN IMBO, had a high potential in improving the GROWTH, FEED efficiency, BODY COMPOSITION and some IMMUNO-HEMATOLOGICAL parameters in gray mullet juveniles compared to the control group, and among all the treatments, the one containing 3 percent synbiotic represented the best performance.
