Abstract

The main purpose of the present study is to investigate the effects of inputs in production of wheat and barley. Advantages of using cost function in estimating the inputs" conditional demand function are presented. Then, using the Shephard"s Lemma, a TRANSLOG MULTIPRODUCT COST FUNCTION is used to estimate the demand functions for chemical fertilizers. seeds, labors and agricultural machinery. Data are obtained from 100 questionnaires which were completed by the Ministry of Agriculture. Results of the present study revealed that using cost function can overcome the problems of direct estimation of the production function.
