Abstract

Introduction: ANATOMY is considered as an incomprehensible subject, difficult to stick in mind and easy to forget to the most STUDENTS. So, this study investigated the role of drawing ANATOMY in promoting STUDENTSANATOMY teaching. Methods: This Quasi-experimental study was done on 380 Nursing, Midwifery and paramedical STUDENTS of Langerood faculty from 2010 to 2011 over four semesters. The samples in each class were randomly divided into two groups. Half of the STUDENTS in each class had a theoretical and practical education simultaneously by using audiovisual aids, body cadaver and moulage and for the others (the experimental group) the same educations plus drawing were used. The attitude of experimental groups’ toward the educational methods was assessed by using a questionnaire and the results of tests were analyzed using descriptive- analytical statistics (independent sample t- test) by SPSS 18 software. Results: The results sholwed that learners in experimental group (16±1.35) achieve a higher mean score than the other group (13±0.23) that was significantly different (P=0.03, t=2.14). In experimental group 88.7% STUDENTS preferred this method to the conventional methods.63% of them said that this method was so attractive and 57% believed that this approach may improve their skills in clinical practice. Conclusions: Results showed that drawing was significantly effective in nursing STUDENTS ANATOMY education and most of them were completely satisfied with this teaching method.
