THE EFFECT OF 5E TEACHING METHOD ON STUDENTS’ LEARNING AND CREATIVITY

Abstract

 The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of 5Emethod on students’ LEARNING and CREATIVITY. Aquasi-experimental method with pretest-posttest design with an unequal control group was utilized. Population of the study includes all 3rdgrade male students at public high schools in Ravansar. A multi-stage random sampling was used to select the participants. The participants include 60 individuals (30 individuals for the experimental group and 30 for the control group). The instruments to collect data were: (a) Abedi’s CREATIVITY test which its Cronbach alpha was obtained 69% and its validity was confirmed through internal consistency; and (b) a researcher-made achievement test that its reliability was obtained 79% and its validity was determined through content validity method. Before the term begins, the achievement and CREATIVITY tests were administered to the students and after performing the traditional methodology on control group and the 5E METHODology on experimental group, tests were administered. To analyze data, descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (multivariate covariance analysis) were used. The results indicated that the use of 5E METHODology is significantly more effective than traditional one in the students’ LEARNING and CREATIVITY.
