Abstract

Background and Objective: NEWBORN ADMISSION to the neonatal intensive care unit is associated with many complications. One of the solutions to reduce the complications is providing NURSING CARE according to ADMISSION STANDARDs. This study was conducted aimed to determine the conformity rate of NURSING CARE during NEWBORN ADMISSION with the STANDARDs in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs).Materials and Method: In this cross-sectional study, 267 neonatal NURSING CARE during ADMISSION to NICUs in selected educational hospitals in Qazvin, in 2014 were selected and observed with quota sampling event. Data were gathered through demographic questionnaire for nurses and hospitalized NEWBORNs, checklist of neonatal NURSING CARE during ADMISSION. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics using SPSS 21.Results: Conformity rate of NURSING CARE during neonatal ADMISSION with the STANDARDs in neonatal intensive care units was 51 percent. Moreover, 36.84 percent of NURSING CARE during neonatal ADMISSION was desirable, 14.03 percent was moderate, and 49.12 percent was poor. Conclusion: According to results, nurses’ performance concerning the NURSING CARE during the ADMISSION was in moderate level in compare with STANDARDs. It is recommended the application of nursing clinical guide during the NEWBORN ADMISSION and clinical supervision by nurse managers about optimizing the performance in order to improving quality of care.
