Abstract

Families are often perceived as a source of security and happiness, even though DOMESTIC VIOLENCE is part of experience of many Iranian women. This experience is different based on enjoying or not enjoying the capitals. This paper examines the role of types of economic capital, social and cultural capials in DOMESTIC VIOLENCE against women. The sample of study includes 393 people (208 males and 185 females who marred over ten years) chosen through Stratified sampling and quota sampling methods. Five districts of Rasht city and gender were used for classification. Bourdieu's theory is used in theoretical structure. The findings of the study show that there is significant but revers correlation between the different kinds of capital and DOMESTIC VIOLENCE against women so that women who had the highest rate of violence, they experienced low rate of violence, vice versa.
