Pages

  1-41

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the RATIONAL ORIENTATION in EVERYDAY LIFE and its influencing factors among educators compared to students in Zanjan. Theoretical framework consists of theories of Max Weber, John Harsanyi, James Coleman, Raymond Boudon, John Elster, Jürgen Habermas and theory of RATIONAL CHOICE. The statistical population includes educators and student in Zanjan who were 260 from whom we choose 353 ones through cluster random sampling method as sample of study. This study is an analytical survey using structured questionnaire and 78 questions is run in the sample. The findings suggest that mean difference between the two groups in terms of RATIONAL ORIENTATION with social status (gender, education, occupation, income, assets) only gender had a meaningful difference and the statistics indicate the mean difference between RATIONAL ORIENTATION of men and women. Other components have the same mean. The independent variables (the tendency towards religiosity, Fatalism, breaking the law, tends to modernity, sense of relative deprivation) results show that there was a significant relationship between these variables and the dependent variable. Determination coefficient (R2) of influential independent variables was 0.93. In other words, the independent variables could explain 0.93% of dependent variables. In terms of main research hypothesis, comparing the educators orientation mean with student, we can say that it is proved. That is, students compared with the educators have higher RATIONAL ORIENTATION.
