Abstract

The satisfaction of the customers will not be achieved without providing quality services to them. It should be quite clear that what is going to be done for fulfilling the needs of the customers. Therefore, it is necessary that the performance should be measured and verified having regard to the customers' expectations.In evaluation of the performance in loading and discharge of cargo in a PORT, it is imPORTant to know that how much of assets such as BERTH should be utilized. To this end, the main question of this research is that: How has been the performance of the Shahid Rajaee PORT container operators in the past three years? To answer this question, the methodology applied in this research has been calculation of a set of PORT and maritime indicators approved by UNCTAD. In a study conducted about these two TERMINALs it became clear that Beta (one of the container operators), an average of 1030 TEU per SHIP, during the past three years, has been handled while in the same period, on average some 2342 TEU per SHIP have been handled Sina (the other container operator). Statistics demonstrate that the SHIP arriving in TERMINAL II have almost two times the capacity of the SHIP going to TERMINAL I and TERMINAL II has recorded the higher norms in respect of container handling compared to TERMINAL I and the main reason being the torn-out equipment used in the BERTHs of TERMINAL I.In aggregate, this research showed that the arrival of the container SHIPs during the past three years has increased in the PORT and the main reason for this has been the lifting of sanctions which has led to a positive impact on cargo imPORT and exPORT in the country.
