Abstract

This study is aimed at investigating the effect of the asma-hosna counseling model on improving married women’s God image. This is a quasi-experimental research work with a pretest-posttest, control group design. The population comprised of all the mothers aged 25 to 48 whose daughters were studying at high school in Tehran during the academic year 2017-2018 academic year. The statistical sample included 30 subjects selected through the purposive sampling method and randomly assigned into control and experimental groups. The experimental group received 10 sessions of treatment based on the asma-hosna counseling model. The content of the training sessions was based on the available resources related to asma-hosna and the famous hadith from the Prophet, in which 99 Divine names have been mentioned. The research instrument was the God Image Scale (GIS) completed by both groups. At the end, the results obtained from the 2 groups were compared using multivariate covariance analysis. The results showed that the mean of the scores of the experimental group on the God Image Scale and its six main sub-scales, including the impressibility, Divine providence, presence, challenge, acceptance, and benevolence, significantly increased (p<0.005) at the posttest stage. Given the findings of this research work, it can be said that the asma-hosna counseling model improves God image among women, and this model can be utilized by professionals as an attached part to psychotherapeutic interventions.
