Abstract

 The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of Meinkenbaum's psychosocial education on improving the mental health of female applicants for divorce. The research method used in this study was semi experimental with pretest-posttest design with control group. The research sample consisted of 30 female divorce applicants who were voluntarily selected from among 61 women who were divorced as the subjects of the study. They were randomly assigned to the experimental group (15) and the control group (15). The experimental group received Meinkenbaum psychosomatic immunization training in 6 sessions of 80 minutes. Data was collected by GHQ mental health questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS software using descriptive and inferential statistic (single variable variance covariance for determining effectiveness).Univariate analysis of covariance showed that the main hypothesis Meinkenbaum psychological inoculation training, a significant effect on the mental health of women seeking divorce. Also, the results of single-variable covariance analysis indicated that education also has a significant effect on mental health components (physical weakness, anxiety and insomnia, social activeness, depression).
