Abstract

 The current research has done to the aim of determining effectiveness of Positive group therapy on enhancing the resilience and self-esteem in divorcees. The research method was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest design and one control group. The statistical population of this research was all the divorcees who had referred to the “Saraye Tadawom” consulting centers related to Sari’s municipal in fall 2016 that all the divorced women in these centers were 180. After announcing a recall in the centers, 30 volunteers were screened and enrolled for the training program. Then in order to gain information about economical and social conditions of the divorcees, a motivational interview was performed. After that, a form of personal information and consciously agreement form was completed by the volunteers and they were placed randomly into two groups of 15 people: 1) Positive 2) Control. Before and after conducting group therapy the individuals filled out two questionnaires of resilience and self-esteem. The sessions of group therapy were consisted of 12 sessions once a week for 90 minutes. In this study, Conner and Davidson’s resilience questionnaire (2003) and Coopersmith’s self-esteem questionnaire (1967) were applied. Moreover, two methods of descriptive and inferential statistics were used and the data were analyzed by MANCOVA & ANCOVA through the SPSS software, version 22. Results showed that positive group therapy had a high effectiveness and this approach has enhanced the resilience and self-esteem in divorcees.
