Title

Recitation of the Suras containing prostrations (‘ Azī ma) of the Qur’ an in Prayers from the Viewpoint of the Fiqh of Islamic Sects

Pages

Abstract

One of the obligatory acts of prayers is Recitation of Sura al-Ḥ amd or al-Fā tiḥ a, over which all Islamic sects have consensus. After reciting Sura al-Fā tiḥ a, it is obligatory to recite another Sura of the Qur'an, which is a matter of disagreement among jurists in several ways. One is the necessity of reciting a complete Sura or the possibility of resting content with the Recitation of a few verses, and the other is the permissibility of reciting the Suras containing obligatory Prostrations. This study based on the hadiths from the Prophet (s) and the Ahl al-Bayt (a) examines the latter issue, namely, the permissibility of reciting the Suras containing obligatory Prostrations (‘ azī ma) in obligatory prayers. In this paper, we begin by introducing the concepts of Sura and ‘ azima, and then discuss and analyze different issues regarding the permissibility of reciting the ‘ azī ma Suras in prayers, using library method. In the end, we conclude that the Recitation of the ‘ azī ma Suras is permissible based on certain hadiths and other arguments.
