Abstract

The modern interpretation of Qur’ an which is focusing on semantics is an urgent need for Quranic research. This research examined the semantics of “ Fojour” as one of the leading words of the Qur'an and tried to answer the following questions: What is the meaning range of “ Fojour” in the Holy Qur'an? What are the paradigmatic and syntagmatic semantics of Fojur in the Holy Quran? Which words are in semantic contrast with “ Fojur” ? It was concluded that the term Fojur has been used in four areas of meaning of Fajr and Fojur and Enfejar and Tfjyr, in fact the meaning of splitting is considered in all four fields, and the word fojur regarding acts of those who work against religion, Regarding syntagmatic semantics, this term has a semantic connection with the concept of deviation and also includes the concepts of disbelief, corruption, arbitrary and persuasive, which are in sharp contrast meaning of the concepts of Piety, Ehsan, and obedience. Through this study, in order to understand the meaning of the Quranic notion in the fundamental and relative meaning, the formation of semantic vocabulary in the level of semantic relations and semantic interactions is necessary. The research method employed in this paper is library form and for the analysis of information the Holy Qur’ an, its interpretations, narrative books, lexical texts, and authentic Islamic texts have been used.
