Abstract

Drought is an incredible reality in Iran., The water resources crisis is gradually showing its impacts. These impacts in KHORASAN province are more severe. This province has an area of about 115 of Iran's total area. At present, water table within the province is lowering every year so that water depletion from 70 out of 78 plains is forbidden due to their critical conditions. In this paper, research reports on MICROIRRIGATION studies conducted in Iran and various regions of the world, data related to the amount of irrigated are and water resources in the province have been discussed and the necessity for application of micro irrigation for sustainable agriculture is emphasized.
