Abstract

Introduction: In order to conduct quantitative analysis of hand TREMOR in Patients with PARKINSON'S DISEASE, a method of MOTION ANALYSIS (Video Tracking) has been used in this study.Methods and Materials: A system consisted of special hardware and software for MOTION ANALYSIS was designed and fabricated, which is able to measure and represent factors like average FREQUENCY, MOVEMENT [location], and VELOCITY [the rate] of hand TREMOR versus time. Both rest and postural hand TREMORs were evaluated in 32 patients.Results: Results indicate that the above-mentioned factors are significantly correlated in both rest and postural TREMOR (p<0.02). Additionally, a linear relationship could be found among these factors in both rest and postural TREMORs, with most significant correlation being between average frequencies in rest and postural TREMORs (r2=0.996).There was no significant relationship between these factors and variables of age, sex, and hands tested.
