Abstract

Purpose: The volume of published articles is increasing day by day and evaluation of databases that provide these resources is a necesity. The aim of current study was to compare SPRINGER and SCIENCE DIRECT databases and their INTERFACE according to the four items like: search criteria, view, navigation and being user friendly Methodology:: This study is done in survey method and is an applied research. Data collection tools was the checklist based on research of Ziaee and Sharifi (2014), as well as to assess the Recall 20 keywords in each database were studied Findings: The results showed that SCIENCE DIRECT score in recall was 71% and the recall of SPRINGER was 28%, as well as in the user INTERFACE in the field of SCIENCE DIRECT search criteria points equal to 77.77% and the SPRINGER rating with the 66.66%, in terms of user friendliness SCIENCE DIRECT base rating of 63.63% and rating SPRINGER base equal to 72.72, in terms of the a display criteria the score of both database was 14.57%, and in terms of the search criteria the score of both database was 42.71%.Conclusion: The results indicated that SCIENCE DIRECT was more comprehensive than SPRINGER, also based on search criteria SPRINGER was more Desirable than the SCIENCE DIRECT, SPRINGER in terms of user friendliness was more Desirable than SCIENCE DIRECT, and in two categories of measures display and operation both database similar situation.
