Title

THE VIEW POINTS OF INTERPRETERS REGARDING THE QURANIC STORIES IN BEING REALISTIC OR IMAGINARY

Pages

  71-101

Abstract

One of the explanatory styles of the Holy Quran for explaining realities and topics that are above man"s limited understanding is the use of parables and simile which allows next generations to be able to recognize and undrestand what is being said in this Book. The Holy Quran states: "Such are the similitudes which we propound to men, that they may reflect" (Hashr:2i). "Verily, We have propounded for men, in this Quran, every kind of parable: but if thou bring to them any sign... " (Rome:58). The view points if interpreters and writers regarding the language of sim."iitudes in the Quran are different. This article explains the view points ofinterpreters in this field and their opinions about whether Quranic stories are factual or not. The STORY of Adam and his children is discussed as an example.
