Abstract

Background: PRENATAL CARE plays an important role in the reduction of the maternal and infant mortality rates. This study was planned in order to assess the level of knowledge, attitude and practice of PRENATAL CARE among WOMEN in RAFSANJAN.Material and Methods: During three months time in the year 2000 a KAP and by the means of a questionnaire, 642 WOMEN were interviewed in six urban health centers. Results: In finding in this study showed a high awareness level (70.9) with a high positive attitude (90.1%) and a high practice level (94.79%) of PRENATAL CARE among WOMEN. The relations between knowledge, attitude and practice were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The number of the educational programs must be increased. In these programs mothers should not only be encouraged to attend more in the PRENATAL CARE units but also to receive the relevant services more actively.
