Abstract

In this paper we investigate the key causal linkages among "CAD/CAM/CAE virtual ‎integration", "degree of manufacturing goal achievement", and "the organizations ‎survival‏". ‏ ‎‎ A decision - oriented conceptual model is proposed and tested on data from 139 ‎automotive manufacturing firms using structural equation modeling technique. Two ‎major research issues are addressed in this study: Do CAD/CAM/CAE virtual ‎integration affect the degree to which firms achieve manufacturing goals in the form ‎of time and cost decrease and the increase of quality and flexibility? To what degree? ‎Does the degree of manufacturing goal achievement lead to a higher degree of ‎survival by improving productivity, profitability, and competitiveness‏?‏ ‎‎ The results support the notion that organizations survival in current competitive ‎atmosphere of world involves internal and external integration of CAD, CAM, CAE ‎activities‏.‏
