Abstract

Background and aim: car theft is one of the social problems that provide the basis for some other crimes. On the other hand, one of the concerns of sleuths is the proper utilization of criminalization techniques for gathering evidence to prove the crimes. Thus, the purpose of this study is to identify the factors that contribute to the criminalization of car theft. Research methodology: In terms of purpose, this research is applied and in terms of data collection, it utilizes a quantitative survey method. The statistical population of the study consists of Qom province sleuths from which 82 individuals are randomly selected. Data gathering tool was a researcher-made 24-item questionnaire which its validity was estimated by the Face validity method and its reliability was determined by Cronbach's alpha (0. 87). Inferential statistics such as linear regression and one-sample t-test were used for data analysis. Findings: Findings demonstrate that internal organizational factors with 51. 7% and external organizational factors with 43. 5% and overall organizational factors with 58. 3% have a positive effect on criminalization of car theft in Qom province. The absolute value of the t-statistic obtained in all variables also shows that the research hypotheses are confirmed with 95% confidence. Conclusion: The results indicate that in order to increase the detection of car theft, the police should make a holistic approach to all of the capacities of effective internal and external organizations. Also, with more coherence into internal organizational actions, it will pursue its demands from outside organizations to play an effective role in Criminalistics of car theft.
