Assessment of the Problems of Hospitalized Patients to Do Prayer in Qazvin Teaching Hospitals

Abstract

 The purpose of this research was to evaluate the problems of Hospitalized Patients in Qazvin teaching Hospitals to do Prayer. The research method was survey and data collection tool was a questionnaire. The population under study was also the total population (adult Patients admitted to Qazvin teaching Hospitals who were adhere to pray). The total number of people surveyed was 220, of whom 163 (74. 1%) were not adhere to pray before admission and 57 (25. 9%) were not adhere to pray. The main problems of Hospitalized Patients to do Prayer in Qazvin teaching Hospitals were as follows: None of the Patients had access to a booklet or pamphlet on the rules of Prayer. 82. 8% of Patients did not know how to perform jabira wuḍ ū . 76. 1% of Patients reported lack of cooperation or lack of knowledge of ward staff to assist them in performing wuḍ ū . 67. 5% of Patients were not aware of proper mat in ward or stated that there was no suitable mat in ward. 58. 3% of Patients had no access to turbah [mohr]. 55. 2% of Patients were unaware of stone or suitable soil for tayammom in the ward and 33. 1% of Patients stated that there was no stone or suitable soil for tayammom in the ward. 44. 8% of Patients were not aware of the facilities to performing ghusl. 16% of Patients stated that there was no proper bath in the ward. 31. 2% of Patients did not consider the Hospital clothes clean that were given to them. 25. 8% of the Patients stated that the staff did not have the necessary cooperation to replace the unclean clothes. 33. 7% of the Patients considered the presence of peripheral venous catheter (PVC) into their vein to be one of the causes of not accepting their Prayers. Of the 84 women who were adhere to pray before admission, 32 (38. 09%) believed in the necessity of a veil [chaddor] while praying, of whom 17 (53%) did not have access to a veil. Of the 163 Patients who were adhere to pray, 45 had to pray on the Hospital bed while they were sitting or lying down that 17 of whom (37. 5%) did not know the relevant rules of Prayer. Of the 27 Patients who had to pray while they were lying down, 23 (84. 1%) did not expect ward staff to cooperate with them to face the beds toward Qiblah during Prayer or they were unaware of the cooperation of the staff.
