THE PLACE OF WORK AND EFFORT IN PERSIAN POEMS

Abstract

Social scientists consider HUMAN CAPITAL as a valuable and endless resource. Human WORK and his experimental skills and science is of great importance to them. While philosophers (such as Aristotle in Greece) were not aware of the. value of manual WORK in the ancient age, step by step during the industrial civilization, credit and value of WORK become more clear yet complicated. In our country, people do not devote necessary credit and value to WORK and the negative attitude towards WORK causes many problems, while it has had high importance in past culture and literature of Iran (especially in poem). In this essay by documentary method and selecting 3 classic poets of Iran, the concept of WORK in Persian poetry has been studied. This research shows: 1) Ferdosi as a representative of ancient age paid attention to the role of agricultural WORK in social production, 2) Sadi as an experienced poet and social reformer pays attentions to hard WORK and regards for it, 3) WORK in view of Molavi (Rumi), has a special dynamism. He also regards the ACQUISITION of daily bread and HUMAN STRUGGLE as the mobilization toward God.
