Abstract

This research was conducted with the purpose of investigating the effect of religiosity, social support, and education on the tendency towards the married women's pregnancy in the city of Tehran. The pregnancy and the tendency towards it is a multidimensional variable that has been studied in various sciences and this research has studied it in the field of sociology. The data were gathered from 384 married women ranging in age from 20 to 44 in the city of Tehran who were selected by the stratified sampling. The conflict tactics scale and parenting stress index were used for data-gathering and the methods of Spearman's correlation coefficient, regression, and path analysis were applied for data-analyzing. The results showed that there is statistically a significant relationship between the independent variables of religiosity, social support, and education and the dependent variable of the tendency towards pregnancy. In addition, the regression analysis demonstrated that the variables of religiosity and education explain the variances in the tendency towards pregnancy. The path analysis also showed that religiosity, directly, social support, indirectly, and education, both directly and indirectly, influence the tendency towards pregnancy.
