Pages

  231-257

Abstract

Divorce is not a sudden occurrence; Rather, it is a process that begins with the cohabitation of couples. This study aims to identify processes in cohabitation that lead to a couple's decision to Divorce. In this study, the Research Narrative method and the Narrative Interview technique are used; Accordingly, couples who had been referred to the welfare crisis intervention centers by the Mashhad judiciary were interviewed, and finally 18 theoretical saturation interviews were obtained. Results show that six models of Divorce can be distinguished from each other, one or more of which can exist in a family. These models include: heterog-eneous marriage model, forced marriage model, immature marriage model, patri-archal family model, low-income family model and unhealthy family model. In some families, only one process model was observed, and in others, two or more models were observed simultaneously.
