Abstract

 Breast cancer stands as the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in women. mammography screening can improve prevention and early detection of breast cancer. The increasing of rates of mammography screening includes different variables. So In the same vein, this article aimed at changing attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral Control, and mammography self-efficacy construct in order to increase intention and behavior of screening mammogram by an educational intervention in women. Among the women referred to the health centers of 1 and 2 areas in Arak, 300 women (40 – 60 years old) answered mammography self-efficacy Scale and planned behavior theory questioner. Then 30 women were selected and divided into two groups of experimental and control. Experimental group received 3 sessions of training (60 minute in per session). Then post test had been conducted for two groups and participants were followed up for mammography in two months. After the intervention, significant changes were detected in the intervention group in mammography self-efficacy, attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, intention and behavior of mammography during the time. and Moreover, experimental group compared to the control group showed significant difference in the scores of variables. Altogether, researchers may want to can include self-efficacy mammography in addition to the TPB and other demographic characteristics in future applications to improve health behavior.
