Abstract

In order to obtain the deformation and strength properties (Eu , su , φ′, v′, E′, c′ ) of a Kaolin clay (denoted as C1C), some TRIAXIAL TESTS have been carried out in which the soil has been consolidated under K0 conditions (no lateral strain). In this paper, different methods of laboratory, K0 testing will be classified briefly, and then, the selected method and the concept behind that method will be explained. The measured K0 values for the C1C kaolin will be compared briefly with some published correlations. The deformation and strength properties determined from the triaxial tests will be presented afterwards.
