TREATMENT OF NITROGEN OXIDES IN AIR USING MODIFIED ZSM-5 ZEOLITE

Abstract

 In the present study, modification and interaction effects of synthetic zeolite on NOx CONVERSION are investigated. ZSM-5, g-Alumina, and Alumina Silicate are used as catalyst supports for catalytic media on honeycomb MONOLITH.First, a physical mixture containing 200g of each zeolite per volume of honeycomb was prepared.Then, a physical mixture was prepared in two separate matrices with 1% of nanometal oxides of palladium and platinum and 3% zirconium and cerium oxides, and then wash coated using the IMPREGNATION technique NOx CONVERSION experiment was carried out under the interactive effects of temperature and reducer gas (propane). For this purpose, four levels of experimental design were used. The results showed that among the three modified zeolites, the "ZSM-5" with Zro2 and Ceo2 had optimized conditions for NOx CONVERSION (P=0.05).In addition, the optimized conditions for NOx CONVERSION in C3H8/NOx were obtained in a temperature of 180° C and a mole ratio of 1.5 with NOx removal efficiency of 83 %.
