Abstract

Background & Aims: The purpose of this study was to compare the Religious beliefs and sexual satisfaction of women with and without meta-relationships. Materials & Methods: The research design was causal-comparative. The study population consisted of all women who referred to psychology and psychiatry clinics in Tehran in 1977, who had a history of extra-marital relationships, and women with no extra-marital relationships, including 60 women with purposeful and extra-marital relationships. Sixty women without meta-relationships were randomly selected and evaluated using the Hudson Sexual Satisfaction Questionnaire and the Temple Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using two-tailed independent t-test and multivariate analysis of variance. Results: The findings of the study showed that women with extra-marital relationships show lower sexual satisfaction and practice of Religious beliefs than women without extra-marital relationships. Conclusion: Women who were more inclined and scored higher in the Religious beliefs Questionnaire were not involved in extramarital affairs, and this could confirm the need to pay attention and cultivate Religious beliefs among community members in order to survive and maintain the family.
