Abstract

Background: MEDICAL EDUCATION program for general practitioner is the most common tool of MEDICAL EDUCATION; however, its efficacy is a familiar challenge among researchers. We have evaluated one of these programs, which were held in Shiraz in 1998.Materials and methods: All volunteer general practitioners were assigned randomly in either case or control groups. Subjects in the case group were asked to complete a questionnaire before the program but the control group was asked to complete the questionnaire after the program.Results: Results have showed that the mean scores of the case and control groups were 10.72 and 10.09, respectively (NS). Participants' opinion regarding the trainers' behavior was good. However, they believed that the program could relatively respond the physicians' needs. Totally they were satisfied with the program.Conclusion: Results have shown the effectiveness of MEDICAL EDUCATION program, however, further programs should be evaluated so that the most appropriate strategy could be drawn.
