Abstract

Purpose: To report a case of bilateral choroidal metastases from a breast carcinoma treated with transpupillary thermotherapy (TTT).Patient and findings: A 44 year-old- woman was referred with sudden loss of vision in her right eye for 5 days. Visual acuity was decreased to 20/160 in the right eye, and was 20/20 in the left eye. Fundus examination disclosed a large-sized tumor (6×7 disc diameter) in the posterior pole with subretinal fluid in her right eye, and a small size tumor (1.5×1.5 disc diameter) temporal to macula of her left eye. Right side mastectomy due to BREAST CANCER had been performed one year prior to the recent referral. The choroidal mass in both eyes were treated with thermotherapy with a relatively good response.Conclusions: Choroidal metastases of breast carcinoma are common after removal of the primary tumor. TTT may be a useful treatment in such cases.
