Abstract

Purpose: To report a case of CENTRAL RETINAL ARTERY OCCLUSION in a patient with LUPUS ANTICOAGULANT (LAC) positive SLE.Patient and findings: A 33-years-oldwoman with a diagnosis of SLE and positive LUPUS ANTICOAGULANT titer was admitted in the rheumatology ward. The patient was referred to the ophthalmology clinic for decreased visual acuity since previous day. During 48 hours, her vision was completely lost. In funduscopy, we found CENTRAL RETINAL ARTERY OCCLUSION. Conclusion: Patients with SLE and a high titer of LUPUS ANTICOAGULANT, should be considered at high risk for thrombotic events.
