Abstract

Castleman's disease is a benign disorder of lymphoid tissue with unknown etiology. It has a histologic spectrum which contains hyaline vascular type in one end and plasma cell type in the other end, with intermediate types between. This disease is rare, and the most common form of it is a solitary, painless mediastinal mass. Cervical areas are seldomly involved. This is the case report of a 35 –year – old man with a large, hypervascular and relatively pulsatile cervical mass lodged in the carotid triangle. After necessary diagnostic studies, he was operated. The definite pathological report was Castleman's disease (hyaline vascular type). Results: Castleman's is a rare disease, and cervical presentation is the uncommon figure of it. Most ENT references have not included this disease, but it should be identified by ENT specialists since it may present in head and neck fields. A review of its signs, forms, courses, treatment and care should be mentioned simply for the benefit of ENT specialists.
