Abstract

Background: The purpose of this study was to determine the EPIDEMIOLOGICal characteristics and INCIDENCE rate of BRUCELLOSIS from 1999-2012 in the TIRAN-KARVAN Township in Isfahan province.Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional study that performed on all patients with diagnosis BRUCELLOSIS in public and private sectors in the TIRAN-KARVAN Township from 1999 to 2012, that for which BRUCELLOSIS form completed. For analysis of data, we use SPSS19.donsity INCIDENCE rate calculated and reported based on total person-years in study duration.Findings: Average density INCIDENCE rate in a 14-year period was 52.96 per 100000 person-years. In urban area this rate was 5.67 and in rural area 52.54. The highest INCIDENCE in people who are employed in agriculture and animal husbandry and the least level was for students. So, this rate for agricultures 10.19, agriculture- Rancher 12, housewife andRancher16, students6.83andtheother occupationsis13 per 100000 person-years.Conclusion: Average INCIDENCE of BRUCELLOSIS in the TIRAN-KARVAN was higher than province average and the trend of its INCIDENCE was rising. However, the disease is much more common in rural than urban areas.
