Abstract

Heamophilus Genus includes many pathogenic and non- pathogenic bacterial which cause various fatal or nonfatal local and systemic infection in children and adults. Hemophili are fastidious bacteria and their growth reguires presence of different growth factors (Haemin and Nicotinamide adenine - di- nucleodide). Additionally Haemophili are recognized and classified on the base of their gromth reguirements. Therefore, growth factors discs are necessary for initial identification of Haemophilli and are produced by many pharmacevtical factories. These discs are not availble in Iran. An attempt was made to prepare these discs from blood and yeast extract and to absorb them to filter paper discs. Quality control tests showed that disc products are as potent as the overseas factories products, and retain their activity for more than a year in optimal conditions.
