Abstract

In order to improve the wear and CORROSION resistance as well as the HARDNESS of 304 stainless steel (SS) for mechanical use, surface treatment derived from those applied in mechanical engineering industries were investigated. Surface characterization according to the different ION IMPLANTATION showed that CORROSION and wear resistances were strongly improved. In the same way, micro HARDNESS was significantly increased after ION IMPLANTATION.
