Abstract

The Qur'an has been revealed in Arabic, and is therefore expected to follow the norms of Arabic. This, however, does not mean that the Qur'an does follow Arabicin all aspects of morphology and syntax. Deviation from the norms is in fact a kind of literary foregrounding, a process in which there is a deviation from the rules of language or a rule is added to the rules of language. Deviations happen basically in lexical, syntactic and semantic aspects of language. In the Qur'an, there are deviations not only in syntactic but other areas of Arabic as well. In this article the writer focuses on the syntactic deviations in the Qur'an.
