Abstract

In order to evaluate the accuracy of SOIL SALINITY maps of the Ardakan area the following steps were employed: 1- data analysis and assessment of delineating the boundaries of the SOIL SALINITY units, 2- INTERPOLATION of the SOIL SALINITY values for 0-50 , 50-100 and 100-150 cm depths and creation of the interpolated SOIL SALINITY map at 0-150 cm depth, 3- Converting the interpolated SOIL SALINITY map into the SOIL SALINITY classes corresponding to the defind classes in Iran. 4- Comparison between the ground and interpolated SOIL SALINITY maps. The results of this study have shown considerable differences, especially for low to moderate saline SOIL classes, between the field and interpolated SOIL SALINITY maps. In this study, the reasons of low accuracy of some SOIL SALINITY maps were discussed and the accuracy of SOIL SALINITY maps for other areas in Iran should be reviewed in a different way to identify the major problems in order to improve the accuracy and applications of SOIL SALINITY maps.
