Title

NUTRITIVE VALUE COMPARISON OF DIFFERENT BARLEY CULTIVARS WITH AND WITHOUT ENZYME SUPPLEMENTATION IN BROILER NUTRITION

Pages

  57-68

Abstract

Physicochemical characteristics of BARLEY CULTIVARS, harvested in Khorasan province were determined. In order to study the effects of the different barley based diets on BROILER PERFORMANCE, nutrient digestibilities and apparent metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen (AMEn), an experiment was conducted using 200 male BROILER chickens form 8 to 28 days of age in a completely randomized design with 5×2 factorial arrangement. The first factor included different BARLEY CULTIVARS with 5 levels (CB-74-2, Kavireatenzie, Makoie, Reihan and Valfadjr) and the second factor was ENZYME SUPPLEMENTATION with 2 levels (0 and 0.1% of diet). Physical characteristics as compared to chemical composition- showed more significant differences between the cultivars. During experimental period, in despite of similar feed intake by birds, the chickens fed with diet containing CB-74-2 showed the greatest growth (P<0.01). ENZYME SUPPLEMENTATION significantly increased weight gain (P<0.05) and reduced feed conversion rate (P<0.001). Dry matter, organic matter, fat digestibilities, nitrogen retention and AMEn were significantly (P<0.01) affected by BARLEY CULTIVARS and ENZYME SUPPLEMENTATION. The least fat DIGESTIBILITY and AMEn and also the most improvements in above mentioned parameters due to ENZYME SUPPLEMENTATION were observed in chicks fed diet based on Kavireatenize. According to these resutls; CB-74-2 showed the best weight gain and feed conversion rate and the positive effect of enzyme on fat DIGESTIBILITY and AMEn was the greatest for the diet containing the highest viscosity barley (Karvireatenize).
