Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study the relationship between PROBLEM SOLVING STYLE and PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING among university STUDENTs. Through stratified random sampling, 420 undergraduate STUDENTs of different disciplines were selected from universities in Tehran. Cassidy and Longs Problem Solving Scale and Memorial University of New Foundland Scales of Happiness (MUNSH) were administered on all participents. Results show that there is significant relationship between PROBLEM SOLVING STYLE and PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING. All of problem solving sub scales were significant at p <./01 in determining PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING. It was, also revealed that there is a partial gender differenc between males and females in PROBLEM SOLVING STYLEs, so that females utilize avoidant PROBLEM SOLVING STYLE more than males.
