Abstract

Mohammad Khan Hadji Khane Jamal Khane Dashti has been among the leading poets of the literary restoration period. He enjoyed his generosity and reputation and his position as a khan (boss) of Dashti. His transition from his political career and his being in touch with the prominent figures in the Qajar era changed him into a professional poet. This can be figured out through the ongoing changes in his poetry. During his lifetime, his poetry attracted the attention of people in power, well-known poets, and biographers; however, throughout the course of time, his works are being gradually ignored. Besides his Divan, which is composed of different types of poems-sonnets in particular- he has written several other books as well. This paper attempts to introduce his works and make an overview of his poetry.
