Abstract

The present research was conducted for investigating the predictive role of IDENTITY STYLEs on RELIGIOUS ORIENTATION in COLLEGE STUDENTS. In a cross-sectional descriptive study, 159 COLLEGE STUDENTS of Semnan University were selected by random sampling and completed the demographical questionnaire, IDENTITY STYLEs Inventory (ISI), and RELIGIOUS ORIENTATION Scale (ROS). Data were analyzed by stepwise multiple regression by using PASW software. Normative IDENTITY STYLE and informative IDENTITY STYLE had significant role in prediction of intrinsic RELIGIOUS ORIENTATION, and undifferentiated/avoidant IDENTITY STYLE has significant role in prediction of extrinsic RELIGIOUS ORIENTATION (P<0.001). These there factors explained 39% of intrinsic RELIGIOUS ORIENTATION and 27% of extrinsic RELIGIOUS ORIENTATION.
