Abstract

Bearing in mind the importance of the credit risk management and its optimizing method in banks and financial institutions, this research will be concentrated in examining the effect of macroeconomic condition in banks’ credit risk.To reach a supposition, change of credit risk in the Iranian banks based on the official quarterly information from the year 1999 through 2006 were studies. The research compared credit risk in the course of time and between different banks through analysis of variances. As a result, it is sound to conclude that changes of banks’ credit risk were more expressed by time and macroeconomic conditions than differences between individual banks and financial institutions.The second part of the research is focused in finding the most important, effective macroeconomics’ variables by using panel data model. The gross domestic product (GDP), its growth and other elements such as the volume of imports, inflation rate, banks’ credit risk of the last period and the rate of the credit growth were all explored.
