Abstract

This study was intended to compare the CRITERIA FOR SPOUSE SELECTION under two circumstances (at the beginning of MARRIAGE and present time) on a Sample of husband and wives in Shiraz. Through cluster sampling 1086 subjects (543 couple) were selected. The tool of the research was a Self-constructed Questionnaire of CRITERIA FOR SPOUSE SELECTION with 2 dimensions: a) Content criteria, b) process criteria. The results showed that: 1) Females prefer content CRITERIA FOR SPOUSE SELECTION more than males do; 2) There are a correlation between CRITERIA FOR SPOUSE SELECTION at the beginning of MARRIAGE and present time (at least 5 years after MARRIAGE) in both sexes; 3) There was correlation between content criteria and age, level of education and job among males; 4) There was correlation between process criteria and interaction of job and level of education, There was correlation between process criteria and job, and interaction age and level of education in females.
